Amidst the massive economic crisis in the country, Firms like Akseer are pretty much the need of the hour. With a fragile Research and Advisory structure for Organizations in Pakistan, Akseer is paving way for sustainable business viability. Akseer has a competent team that keeps a keen eye on Business and Market fundamentals in Pakistan and guide customers in making profitable investment decisions. The team is young, enthusiastic and vibrant, hence does not believe in failures and impediments. I had a wonderful opportunity in meeting this team in April 2019 for a memorable training session on “Effective Communication within and Outside the Organization”.
Training Session Background: Effective Communication within and outside the Organization
Professionals consider the art of communication as not so important and hence defy focusing on it. During the regular course of corporate assignments, Professionals tend to keep communication skills aside and focus on other intriguing components of the trade.
Communication, as my experience suggests, is, comfortably, the most misunderstood and underestimated concept in the Corporate world. Various research studies have revealed that Communication is the single most significant skill that employers look for in prospective employees. Communication is indeed the most significant skill that can help you move to the next steps in your careers. Communication is a defining feature that can help professionals succeed in the competitive working environments by breaking the clutter and helping them stand out from the crowd. No matter how brilliant a worker you are, if you are unable to communicate effectively in your organization, your work may probably be overshadowed and overlooked upon.
There is no denying the fact that Communicating effectively is not rocket science and this is where my Training Session comes into play. My sessions are a hybrid of theory and practice. I try to engage my audience in simple, everyday concepts with creative activities, games, and stories.
The session was attended by a pack of young researchers and IT professionals with the objective of unlocking the Communication Puzzle. The diversity of the Professional Backgrounds of the participants made the session extremely impactful and relevant. During the course of the 3-hour session, we discovered that there is much more to communication than we actually think. Communication is absolutely critical for successful completion of projects involving Cross-Functional Teams. Professionals need to understand that not every individual in the corporate sector had access to prestigious business schools where the art of communication is taught, improved, polished and mastered. Hence to be able to get your point across an audience, we need to have the correct tools to communicate effectively, efficiently and successfully.
I was really overwhelmed to learn that Professionals representing the IT Department in the Training Session acquired untapped learning about Communication. People from the Research department got a chance to revise their past knowledge and how to revitalize the dormant skill set for success in their careers.
Key Take Away
The Key Learning of the session was indeed eye-opening. By the end of the session, every participant was made to share their closing remarks and key learning. We delightfully concluded that Communication is not only a Professional Skill, in fact it also helps us succeed on personal grounds. In friendships, relationships and other personal scale interactions, Communication can help you survive when times are tough. Your body language, non-verbal cues, facial expressions they are all tools of the Communication wizard.
Signing Off
I thoroughly enjoyed the session and gained a lot of learning that I intend to build up further and share with many more around. The Journey to share experiences shall continue. My commitment to touch the lives of people is gaining strength by the hour. I am available for discussions, consultation, and more learning experiences.
